Connecting to Your Zotero Account
You can also add items to your Course Resource List from your Zotero library. This just requires an initial setup to link to your Zotero account:
- Click on the Settings gear icon on the upper right corner of your screen and click on Reference managers:
- On the References Managers screen, click on + Add citation managers and select Zotero:
- You will need to obtain the requested Zotero user ID and API key values:
How to Find the Values Needed to Connect to Your Zotero Account
- Go to https://www.zotero.org/ and log into your account
- Click on your username, and then Settings:
- Click on Feeds/API
Your “userID for use in API calls” number (8764476 in the example below) is the User ID you will enter into your Course Resource List:
- Click on Create new private key
- Type “Leganto” as the Key Description, and ensure Allow library access is checked and None is selected under “All Groups;” click Save Key:
- Save the alphanumeric key that has been created:

- Once you have retrieved your Zotero values, enter the “userID for use in API calls” in the user ID field and the alphanumeric key you have created in the API key field and click Connect:
- You will now see Zotero listed as Connected:
- You can now add items to your list from your Zotero library by clicking on + Add, hovering over Import References and selecting Zotero:
- Drag the desired citation from your Zotero library to a section of your Course Resource List:
If you don't see Zotero as an option from the Add new item menu, try refreshing your browser window.
