Conditions Governing Access

Series 1 and 2 of this collection are open for research. Portions of Series 3 are under an embargo until 2044. To access materials from the What's Happening Collection, or to inquire about access restrictions, please submit a ticket through the library’s ticketing system.

Please be advised that the library's reading room is available by appointment Mondays through Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Much of the materials in the What's Happening Collection are currently under copyright. Researchers are responsible for determining who holds the copyright and are responsible for obtaining approval from copyright holders for use in publications. 

Permissions must also be requested from Gottesman Libraries in cases of publication. Please submit a written request through the library’s ticketing system.

Reproducing Text and Images

If reproducing an image from items in the special collections and archives, researchers must indicate that any reproduced image was provided "Courtesy of Teachers College, Columbia University." Attributing the image to our collection allows future researchers to find and use the original materials.
